Painting on glass is
a hot crafting trend and Plaid has a
variety of brilliant projects to inspire your painting. For glass

started? Here are some simple tips for
successful glass painting projects, provided by Plaid designer Holli Long.
Getting Started
All you need to get started is your choice of FolkArt ® Enamels™ , a glass
surface and a soft bristle brush. Wash your glass with glass cleaner or
rubbing alcohol to clean it before painting. Make sure your surface is dry before you start painting.
Best brushes for
glass painting
Soft bristle brushed, detail painters (spouncers) and
sponges work great with enamels. Plaid has created brushes and tools specifically for
painting with enamel paints.
Correcting Mistakes
Simply wipe off or scratch off mistakes with a fingernail,
craft knife or toothpick and repaint.
Use Brushstrokes to
your advantage.
Brushstroke will show on any clear glass surface and are impossible to avoid.
Instead of trying to minimize them, make them part of your design.
Other helpful tips
Even though FolkArt and FolkArt Enamels are non-toxic, the
paint must never come into contact with food. When painting a plate for actual
use, you must paint on the back using a method called Reverse Painting.
Always let the paint dry completely before adding a second
coat. Follow direction on the label closely to bake your projects. This will
make your design permanent.
